Trinidad and Tobago received today 10,000 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines, a donation from the Government of Grenada, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign and Caricom Affairs confirmed.

Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Minister Dr Amery Browne accompanied by Ambassador of Trinidad and Tobago to the Caribbean Community Frances Seignoret and Principal Pharmacist (Ag) at the Ministry of Health Anesa Doodnath-Siboo, received the vaccines at Piarco International Airport.

The vaccines were transported to this country by the Trinidad and Tobago Air Guard.

“The Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs thanks the Minister of National Security and the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force for again responding swiftly to our need for transportation of COVID-19 vaccines from within the region to Trinidad and Tobago,” the statement said.

It added that the government extended its “profound appreciation to the Government of Grenada for this timely donation of vaccines, which will assist in advancing Trinidad and Tobago’s vaccination programme at this critical juncture in its management of the COVID-19 outbreak locally”.
