Three Trinidadian poets have been declared recipients of India’s Independence Day Literary Honour for 2021 by Motivational Strips, the world’s most active writers’ forum and Gujarat Sahitya Academy, literary body under Government of India.

The award declaration was done during India’s 75th Independence Day observances.

The awardees are Trinidadian poets Arjune Teeluck, Sarah Ramphal, and Narendra Rajkumar.

Motivational Strips founder, Shiju H. Pallithazheth, says they are being honoured for the “poetic precision and powerful messages” in their poetry. 

“This year, some 440 poets from 82 countries made the list of recipients of this coveted award,” he noted in an official release. 

“The poets from Trinidad have shown exceptional poetic brilliance, adding to the excellent literary contributions they have made to world literature… The decision to give the award was taken after exhaustive evaluations of their literary works,” he added.

Chairman of Gujarat Sahitya Academy, Padma Shree Awardee Dr Vishnu Pandya, congratulated the recipients on being honoured with the award.
