The total number of active COVID-19 cases climbed to 451 yesterday after 47 new infections were confirmed by the Ministry of Health.
A ministry release said the new cases were from samples taken between December 20 and 22 and included 30 cases who are offshore workers and one who was a recently repatriated national. These new infections brought the total number of cases recorded in the country since March 12 to 7,071.
The total number of people to recover from the virus also rose slightly to 6,495 after the ministry released seven people home self-isolation as recovered community cases.
There were 25 people hospitalised, 51 in step-down/transitional facilities and 328 people in home self-isolation of which 37 were in the care of the prison system. There were 438 people in state quarantine facilities.
Deaths remained at 125 and two people were being cared for at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Couva Multi Training-Facility.
