Yet another police officer has succumbed to the Covid-19 Virus. No. 20723 PC Saied Ali was the fourth officer to have passed away since the beginning of this year and in just a matter of days from his colleagues.
Acting Commissioner of Police, Mc Donald Jacob and members of the Executive, family, friends, and colleagues have all extended deepest condolences at his passing. Ali, 35, who enlisted into the T&T Police Service on July 15, 2019 was last assigned to the Financial Investigations Branch.
Ali tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away on Wednesday. He was buried on Thursday under full Muslim rites. Ali leaves to mourn his mother and his two brothers.
Snr. Supt. Wendell Lucas of the Financial Investigations Branch, in a release issued by the TTPS said Ali was affectionately nicknamed ‘Central’ and described him as “pleasant, dedicated and committed.”
Ali received an award last month during the divisions’ award ceremony for his commitment to duty. He was a “consummate professional whose passing is definitely a blow to the branch and more over the organization. “Lucas encouraged officers to get vaccinated and not only “give themselves a chance to fight Covid-19, but give their family, friends and colleagues the opportunity to share their lives and stay safe.”
