Another murder was recorded in Arima on Thursday night.
According to a police report, at about 8.30 pm Julien Caleb, 43, was standing at the corner of Eastern Main Road and Kingdom Avenue when a gunman walked up to him and shot him dead.
Police said Caleb lived at Richard Street in Malabar and was a barber. He was the twin of a candidate for the Movement for Social Justice, Julia Caleb, who contested a seat seven years ago.
Caleb was the third resident from Malabar to be killed in the last 12 days.
Police said he was well-known to them as he was involved in the illegal firearm and narcotics trade. He was also linked to assault, sexual and robbery offences and had over 44 charges laid against him on various offences.
Caleb’s relatives declined to comment on his murder.
On Wednesday, 19-year-old man Kedel Esdelle of Bellbird Avenue, Malabar was shot while at Mahogany Drive, Malabar. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
On January 4, Kevin Parkinson, 28, was shot while standing along All Star’s Crescent, Malabar.
He died on Tuesday night at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.
