An autopsy is expected to be done today on a 52-year-old Barrackpore hunter who is believed to have drowned in a pond over the weekend.

Emmanuel Edwards, of Harrilal Trace, died on Saturday.

Police said Edwards was liming with a friend when around 2 pm, they decided to go for a swim in a pond not far from his home.

However, he never resurfaced after entering the water.

His friend told officers an alarm was raised and residents began searching the water for Edwards. His body was found stuck in the mud at the bottom of the pond.

Edwards was already dead.
