The Banking Insurance and General Workers Union (BIGWU), in continuing with the ‘Adopt a School’ initiative, delivered fifteen (15) digital learning devices to students of Matelot Community College and Toco Secondary School last Friday, 1 October 2021.
At the Toco Secondary School, Ms. D’ena Boynes Bardouille – Principal (Ag.) and Ms Keisha Alexis – Vice-Principal (Ag.), along with four (4) students, were on hand to receive a total of ten (10) devices intended to assist the students with their participation in the online learning being provided at their school.
Later that same day, in a separate function, BIGWU General Secretary, Comrade Trevor Johnson, handed over five (5) digital learning devices to Ms Stacy Preudhomme of the Matelot Community College at the school compound.
This donation of devices to students at some of the rural schools in Trinidad brings the total number of digital learning devices donated by the Union to forty (40).
As we continue to be affected by the ongoing global pandemic and its continued impact on our nation’s children and their education, the Union has referred to this ‘Adopt A School’ initiative as a key part of its social responsibility. On Thursday 7 October, 2021, the Union will make a similar contribution of twenty (20) digital learning devices to the Tobago Division of Education for delivery to students at five (5) schools across the island.
