Two men, one wanted for rape and abduction, were arrested and charged by police.
According to the TTPS, the two were charged during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the district by officers of the Blanchisseuse Criminal Investigation Department, on Wednesday, January 6 2021.
The exercise was coordinated by Sgt. Ali, and supervised by Ag. Cpl.
Bahwah and other officers of the Blanchisseuse Police Station.
The officers were on mobile patrol along the Arima/Blanchisseuse Road, when based on information received, they stopped a vehicle driven by a 24-year-old suspect.
The man, Sunil Bhagwandeen of Brasso Seco, was arrested and charged on two outstanding warrants for rape and abduction.
The officers then proceeded to the home of 48-year-old Curtis Janet, of Brasso Seco Road, where they allegedly seized three 12-gauge cartridges.
He too was arrested and charged.
Both men appeared at the Arima Magistrates’ Court on Thursday. Bhagwandeen was granted bail in the sum of $80,000 with a surety and Janet was granted his own bail.
The matter has been adjourned to January 20 2021.
