Almost one year after police recovered and seized a cache of guns and ammunition at the Forsis Complex – a Central Warehouse, another cache of high-powered weapons were again seized at the same warehouse.

According to police sources, at about 1:30 pm on Tuesday, a team of police officers from the Special Investigations Unit together with Customs Officers acted on intelligence received and went to Medway Customs Warehouse at Old Southern Main Road, off St Mary’s Junction where they intercepted a sealed barrel.

The officers seized the barrel and upon opening it found a quantity of high- powered rifles. Up to late on Tuesday the officers were recording the findings and trying to ascertain its sender and receiver.

On April 26, 2021 police raided Medway Limited’s warehouse at Forsis Complex and discovered several guns and a large quantity of ammunition of various calibres.
Police said at about 9 pm on April 25, intelligence was received by the Special
Investigations Unit which suggested that a container with household appliances was imported into Trinidad.

The intelligence revealed that this shipment was housed at a warehouse
situated off the Southern Main Road, Mc Bean, Couva. Intelligence suggested that the said items entered the country sometime around the end of February.

The SIU acting on additional intelligence and in collaboration with the Central Gang Intelligence Team and the Customs and Excise Division, commenced an operation to identify the items contained in the said
container.

About 7 am on April 26, personnel from the SIU proceeded to the warehouse where the container was retrieved and an examination conducted.
The following items were discovered concealed in the container:

  1. 200 rounds of 7.62mm wolf performance brand.
  2. 150 rounds of 9mm black blazer brand.
  3. 20 boxes of pure hemp big bambi brand.
  4. 20 boxes of wrapping paper big bambi brand.
  5. 6 black 9mm ammunition drums
  6. 3 black 5.56mm ammunition drums
  7. 700 rounds of .45 ammo Center Fire brand
  8. 60 rounds of 5.56 mm ammo. American eagle brand.
  9. 1 MAGPUL assault rifle with scope
  10. 3 black 5.56 mm magazines
  11. 4 pistols each with 1 magazine.
  12. 2 brown coloured “rouni” attachments with scopes. “This turns any pistol into an automatic firing weapon”
  13. 10 boxes of .40 ammo. 50 rounds per box
  14. 6 .40 extended magazines
  15. 50 rounds of 9mm hollow point.
