The most recent reading from the monitoring station at Beetham is 342 points, recorded at 1 pm today. This is an uptick from an earlier reading taken at 8 am, which was 329 points.
Persons living in and around, as well as working in capital city, Port of Spain, will have to exercise extreme caution today, following a fire which occurred at the Beetham Landfill, last night.
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) is advising there is a relatively mild concentration of Saharan dust present in the atmosphere today, and as such, persons who are sensitive to this change in air quality should take necessary precautions.
In fact, the Met Service warns that much of week will see these conditions lingering on, as the dust phenomenon continues to make its presence felt in the region.
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) says the alert will remain effective through 5:00 PM Saturday.
