A 42-year-old man from Chaguanas has been charged with shooting and wounding, along with four other charges.

Police said the arrest came following the report of a shooting made by a 39-year-old man of Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas, on November 24.

The victim reported to the police that around 2.14 pm on November 24, he was sitting in his vehicle, which was parked along the Old Southern Main Road, Chaguanas, when a white Nissan AD Wagon pulled alongside his vehicle.

The victim said a man of African descent pointed a gun at him and opened fire.

The victim told police he then felt a burning sensation in his right buttocks. The suspect then drove off.

Enquiries were conducted by the Chaguanas CID, leading to the arrest of the 42-year-old man of 1st Street, Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas, on December 8.
