A four-year-old boy is warded in a stable condition after he fell from the top of a staircase at his Moruga home.
According to a police report, the child was seen standing by the staircase which has no bannister. Around 7.30 am, the child’s uncle heard a noise and realised that his nephew had fallen off the steps onto the ground. He then alerted the child’s mother who was asleep downstairs.
The mother took her son to the Princes Town District Health Facility where he was treated and transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital.
He is being treated for soft tissue injury to his head at the Teaching Hospital.
Investigations are continuing.
