A Chinese national was arrested yesterday, for possession of a firearm and a quantity of ammunition.
In addition, four suspects were arrested during an anti-crime exercise conducted by officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force (NEDTF), on Thursday 4th March 2021.
A release from the Police Service explains that officers received information which led them to a supermarket located along the Eastern Main Road in San Juan. There, the officers found and seized one 357 Magnum revolver with six rounds of ammunition, and a quantity of tobacco.
A 24-year-old Chinese national was arrested at the location.
In a separate incident, police officers received a report of a warehouse break-in at Boundary Road, San Juan.
Cpls Phillips and George and WPC Wilson and PC Patrick proceeded to the location and conducted investigations.
Their investigations revealed that a welding torch was used to gain access to the warehouse, where several items were stolen, including a flat screen television, several bed sheets, rolls of vinyl, and other household items.
Further investigations led the officers to two homes—one located at Pancho Lane No 3, and the other at Burke Avenue, San Juan—where they discovered some of the stolen items, along with one 100-pound gas cylinder, one welding torch and several house-breaking implements.
Four suspects were arrested, and the stolen items were seized.
Cpl Phillips is continuing investigations.
The exercise was coordinated by Snr. Supt Winston Maharaj, Supts. Alexander and Ramjohn, and ASP Beharry. It was supervised by Insp. Bharath, Sgts Mitchell and Quashie, Cpls Dhill, Gordon and Majeed, and also included officers of the San Juan Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
