UNC candidate for San Fernando West Sean Sobers visited the Gulf View Community Centre as dozens of electors complained of a slow voting process.

Sobers said the UNC lawyers have written to the EBC’s chief elections officer Fern Narcis Scope but nothing has been done to alleviate the problems.

A returning officer reportedly was sent to investigate but this still did not reduce the length of voting time. Some voters claimed that they were waiting in line over two hours and were still unable to cast their vote.

Sobers said he was very concerned as these three polling stations are traditionally the UNC stronghold areas in the San Fernando west constituency.
