Northern Division Task Force (NDTF) officers arrested one of their colleagues yesterday when they went in search of a rape suspect.

According to TTPS, officers from the Arouca CID, the NDTF Area Central, Northern Division Crime Scene and Cybercrime unit went to NUGFW Housing Development in Arouca around 5 am yesterday.

They arrested a 34-year-old police officer, who was based at the Tunapuna Police Station for allegedly raping a 22-year-old woman on Wednesday.

The woman told police she was walking along Pine Ridge Heights in Arouca on Wednesday afternoon when a blue vehicle pulled up alongside her. She said the driver threatened to shoot her unless she got into the car.

When the woman complied, she was taken to a guest house, where the man raped her.

The man then dropped her off at Singh Street, Arouca.

She made a report to the police about the incident and an investigation was immediately launched.
