Over TT$5 million in marijuana was found and destroyed by police officers on Thursday in Petit Curacaye, San Juan.

The find was made during a police operation conducted by officers of the Northern Division Task Force.

Guardian Media was told that the officers made their way to a track near the forested area of the community where they found approximately two lots of land with five fields of fully grown marijuana trees, estimated to be 5,500 trees.

Nearby, in a shed, the officers found and seized 20 pounds of cured marijuana.

The drugs were then destroyed.

The combined street value of the seized marijuana was assessed at TT$5,609,000 million.

Officers also found and seized one camouflage outfit, together with gardening equipment, spray cans and fertilizers.
