Police officers on an anti-crime exercise in the Cunupia district on Saturday, found and seized an AK47 firearm and ammunition, at a house in the area.

Official police reports are that two persons were arrested in connection with the find.

A release from the TTPS states that the anti-crime exercise was carried out by officers of the Port of Spain Task Force and the Belmont Operational Unit on Saturday 15th August 2020.

During the exercise, the officers conducted a search at a house in Cunupia and found and seized one AK-47 firearm and 19 rounds 5.56 ammunition. Two suspects were arrested.

The exercise was coordinated by ACP William Nurse, spearheaded by Snr. Supt Daniel Moore, Superintendents Rueben and Khan, ASPs Pooran and Cumberbatch, Insp. Walker, and supervised by Sgts. Alexander and Parris.

Investigations continue.
