Police officers are asking commuters and residents of Port-of -Spain to exercise extreme caution, following the brazen early morning drive-by murder of a 39-year-old man in the area yesterday.

Officers said rapid gunfire rang out through the capital yesterday, leaving residents and those on their way to work terrified.

Police said around 6.15 am, Jamal Goodridge, also known as Popie, of Building 45, Nelson Street, was standing at the corner of Nelson and Cockerton Streets.

A white Tiida vehicle drove by and the occupants fired shots in his direction, hitting him about his body.

Goodridge collapsed and was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at about 6.40 am.

Police officers are now asking commuters and those residing in Port-of-Spain and in particular, upper and east PoS to exercise extreme caution as they fear there could be more incidents.
