Police are trying to determine the identity of a man who was shot dead in Maloney on Wednesday night.

According to a police report, around 8 pm police officers responded to a report of a shooting at Maloney Boulevard, Maloney.

On arrival, officers were directed to the corner of Jacobin Boulevard and Toucan Crescent, Maloney, where they saw the body of a man of African descent, lying motionless on the roadway with gunshot wounds. The man was dead by the time officers arrived.

Investigators learned that just before the shooting, the victim was seen with a group of men not known to residents and he was heard saying, “Is not me is not me.”

Shortly after, a series of gunshots were heard and residents saw the man lying on the road.

Investigations are continuing.
