Lynden Bisnath was arrested by officers of the Fraud Squad, Southern Division, and charged with two counts of receiving stolen property. Bisnath a 38-year-old salesman from Couva, was arrested on March 19th, after a collaborative effort between the Fraud Squad Southern Division and the Cybercrime Unit.
According to police reports, Bisnath was allegedly involved in an operation which secured several cell phones from a company using fraudulent cheques. The incidents occurred during the period January 8th to January 11th, 2021.
The devices amounted to $199,844. The exercise, coordinated by Snr Supt Arlet Groome and Insp. Bachoo, and supervised by Sgt. Seepersad led to the recovery of two of the devices in the Central Division. BISNATH was subsequently charged by Cpl (Ag.) Mohammed on March 22nd, 2021. He will appear before the Couva Magistrates Court on March 24th, 2021
