The COVAX Facility has confirmed its next shipment of COVID-19 vaccines to T&T; however, it would be only half of the outstanding doses of the country’s first tranche from it.
The announcement came from Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh, during the Ministry’s virtual media briefing on Wednesday.
“COVAX has confirmed that we will be receiving another 33,600 doses in May,” he said.
Minister Deyalsingh did not give a specific date of arrival, nor did he indicate when the additional remaining doses constituting the first tranche would arrive.
Trinidad and Tobago signed on to the facility on 18th September 2020 and made a down payment of US$1.477 million.
Minister Deyalsingh urged the public to refrain from making vaccination appointments until this batch arrives, as the country hopes to wrap up administering first doses by the end of the week.
