Some 33,600 AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines, via the COVAX Facility, landed at the Piarco International Airport at 6:06 am today, Wednesday 11th August 2021.

Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh, was there to take receipt of the vaccines, this morning.

This is third tranche of AstraZeneca vaccines provided to the country through the COVAX Facility.

The first arrived on March 31st, while the second tranche arrived on May 10th.

Meanwhile, there continues to be a steady demand for AstraZeneca vaccines, as Government continues to distribute the recent donation of 82,030 AZ jabs received from Canada.

The number of people demanding a dose of Oxford-AstraZeneca is expected to grow larger in the coming days, however, only some 41,015 people will be able to receive a dose from the Canadian donation, with the rest being retained for their second dose.

The new shipment from COVAX means an additional 16,800 persons would be fully vaccinated from this third tranche.
