Two men who were killed during an alleged police-involved shooting in Enterprise on Wednesday, have been identified as 24-year-old Jeremiah David Dixon, and 34-year-old Jamaal Romeo, from Port-of-Spain.
The men were fatally shot along Lion Boulevard, Enterprise, Chaguanas.
According to a police report, police were responding to a report of a kidnapping, and upon arriving at a house they were allegedly fired upon.
The officers, in keeping with the use of force policy, returned fire, hitting Dixon and Romeo.
The men were taken to the Chaguanas District Health Facility, where they were pronounced dead on arrival.
Police said they seized two revolvers from the scene.
The report stated that the two kidnap victims were abducted at gunpoint after meeting six people at Rodney Road, Endeavour, at about 1 pm on Wednesday 24 June 2020.
They were robbed and taken to a house in Enterprise where they were held and beaten for about two-and-a-half hours.
The victims, police said, managed to escape and contacted the police.
The victims were taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility where they were treated and then transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Centre for further examination.
Police said the victims sustained multiple injuries including chop wounds.
The exercise was supervised by Snr Supt Simon, Supt Mystar, ASP Pierre and included Ag Supt John of the Central Division Operations Unit / Chaguanas Division Task Force (CDTF).
