A member of the T&T Defence Force was shot and wounded at Upper Seventh Avenue, Malick, Barataria on Saturday night.
Police reported that around 7 pm several gunshots were heard by a relative outside his home and while making checks saw the 52-year-old victim lying on the road with blood covering his face.
The relative took the victim to the Eric Williams Medical Science Complex for medical treatment and was listed in a critical condition.
And, in an unrelated incident, two men of Cameron Hill, Petit Valley ages 34 and 28 were attacked, chopped and wounded on Saturday afternoon.
Police said both men went to the home of a man they knew to collect a bag.
While there an argument broke out among the three men.
The suspect began fighting with the 34-year-old victim during which he (the suspect) took up a cutlass. The second victim tried to intervene but the suspect dealt him several chops to the left forearm, right hand and right forearm.
The other victim was chopped several times in the mid-chest and left side chest region.
Both men were taken to the St James Hospital for treatment but were transferred to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where they are said to be in stable conditions.
