The number of domestic violence cases has spiked in the last three months.

This startling revelation was made by Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith, this morning.

Commissioner Griffith told the media there has been an increase in the number of reports being made of assault by beating.

He noted for 2019, there were 232 reports while this year has already recorded 558.

As at March 2020, the Police Commissioner stated there has been 96 reported cases.

Commissioner Griffith lamented that countries across the glove have been reporting an increase in domestic violence cases due to stay at home measures similar to what has been implemented in T&T.

He warned perpatrotors, ” you would continue to have a stay at home order, but it may not be at your home”.

The Commissioner assured police officers will increase their visibility by carrying out more patrols.
