RHONDOR DOWLAT-ROSTANT

A 35-year-old man who was shot in the face by an unknown gunman made a daring move to drive himself to the hospital for emergency treatment.

According to a police report, at about 7 pm on Tuesday March 16th, the victim was parked facing south in the car park of Hakka Restaurant located at Watts Street, St Augustine, in a white Hyundai Tucson, when a man walked up to the right side of the vehicle.

The victim, who was seated in the driver’s seat, became fearful and began to sound his horn.  However, the man reportedly whipped out a gun and shot the victim once in the chin.

The wounded man managed to drive himself to the Eric Williams Medical Science Centre where he was treated.

Officers of the Northern Division’s CSI processed the scene where they recovered one spent 9 mm shell.  They then went to EWMSC carpark where they processed the victim’s vehicle before handing it over to the victim’s brother.
