Eight Venezuelans were detained by Siparia Police for illegal entry into Trinidad on Monday 13th July 2020.
According to official police reports, at about 9:45 am on Monday, police officers received information that illegal immigrants came ashore from a boat at Beach Road, Palo Seco, following which they boarded a black Nissan Tiida vehicle.
Police report that Ramsaran and PC Ramsingh responded and intercepted the vehicle along High Street, Siparia. The officers searched the vehicle, where eight illegal immigrants were found and detained, along with the driver of the vehicle, a Venezuelan national living in Chaguanas.
The illegal immigrants, who are said to be from Tucupita in Venezuela, along with the driver, were taken to the Siparia CID.
They were taken subsequently to the Heliport in Chaguaramas for medical attention, followed by quarantine.
Investigations are continuing.
