A 60-year-old man of Morvant is now homeless after fire gutted his home on Sunday.

According to a police report, the home of Glendist Simon at LP4 Mon Repos Road, Morvant was destroyed around 5 pm when fire broke out in it.

Fire officers from the Belmont Fire Station were able to respond in quick time, however, when they got there, the one-storey five-bedroom concrete structure approximately 100-feet by 70-feet was already engulfed in flames. The fire officers extinguished the fire, however, the inside of the house was destroyed.

The value of the structure is yet to be ascertained, as well as the cause and origin.
