The following is a statement by the T&T Council of Evangelical Churches:
The TTCEC, in cooperation with the Government of Trinidad & Tobago, would like to advise our members to adhere to the directives given to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The general public has been asked to avoid gatherings above 25 persons and religious bodies have specifically been asked to limit gatherings.
As such, we urge our members to suspend all major activities for the next fourteen (14) days.
The evangelical body is encouraged to continue in fellowship by taking advantage of modern technology available to us:
- Meetings can take place online using apps which allow for group video calling such as: WhatsApp, Google Hangouts, Apple Facetime, Zoom and any other suitable app.
- Online streaming services, such as on YouTube or Facebook, can also be used for the proclamation of the Word of God and corporate worship in lieu of regular church services.
- Be creative in finding new ways to advance the Gospel through the use of the Internet and social media.
We also ask our member organisations to seek out and disseminate all relevant info being provided by the Ministry of Health and other government entities which will be helpful in keeping our congregants well informed and educated.
Let us be sensitive to discern the season that we are currently in and make every effort to redeem the time, using this and every opportunity to spread the message of hope in Christ.
