Five members of a prominent Tobago family appeared before the Scarborough Magistrate Virtual Court on Tuesday this week (11th May 2021), to answer charges of committing sexual offences against minors.
An official release from the Tobago Police Division reports that the family members—three women and two men of ages ranging from 33 to 68 years—all appeared on the charge of Being a Person Who is Guardian to a Minor Failed to Report a Sexual Offence to a Police Officer.
It is alleged that sometime between the years 2016 and 2019, a relative of the five persons charged before the court would have committed a sexual offence against two minors. The minors reported to the police that when the offence was perpetrated against them, they both reported it to the adults charged.
The charges were laid by WPC Lovelace of the Child Protection Unit (CPU) against:
● 44-year-old Laureeica Roberts, of Plymouth Road, Mary’s Hill
● 68-year-old Louise Roberts, of Plymouth Road, Mary’s Hill
● 33-year-old Latoyaa Roberts-Thomas, of Daniel Trace, Carnbee
● 50-year-old Moses Thomas, of Daniel Trace Carnbee
● 50-year-old Hilton Ollivierre, of John Gorman Trace, Crown Point
The Police Service reports that Laureeica Roberts, Louise Roberts, and Latoyaa Roberts-Thomas were placed on $20,000.00 own bail.
Hilton Ollivierre was placed on $50,000.00 own bail, and Moses Thomas was placed on $80,000.00 bail with surety.
All five accused are expected to reappear at the Scarborough Magistrates Court on Tuesday 8th June 2021.
