A fourth person has been charged in connection with a report of kidnapping against a La Brea man which occurred March 28th. Jeffery Despot, 50, of Beach Road, Vance River Village, Guapo, appeared before a Point Fortin Magistrate via video conferencing today to answer to the charge. He was granted bail for $75,000 with surety or $20,000 cash. The matter was adjourned to July 3rd. According to police reports, the victim reported to police that he was at one of his properties at Beach Road, Vance River Village, La Brea, on March 28th, when he got into an argument with four persons known to him. During the incident, the victim was bound and tied in a house for about 10 minutes, while the assailants beat him. He was subsequently released and proceeded to the Point Fortin district hospital to seek medical attention. A report was made to the police which resulted in three persons being arrested and charged in connection with the incident between April 2020 and May 2020. Despot subsequently surrendered himself to officers of the Guapo Police Station on Tuesday, June 16th, 2020 and was later charged by Cpl Ramjattan on Wednesday, June 17th, 2020
