Thirty one year old Leevan Khan is expected to appear at the San Fernando First Magistrate’s Court virtually today, charged with manslaughter.

Khan of Lumsden Street, Gasparillo was charged in connection with the death of Wendell Paul Ayres, following the advice of Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Ms. Joan Honore-Paul. The charge was laid by Sgt (Ag.) Ramdial of the Gasparillo Police Station.

According to police reports, around 10:40 pm on December 25th, 2021, Khan got into a fight with Wendell Paul Ayres a short distance away from his home. During the incident, both men sustained injuries. This lead to Ayres being rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital where he sought medical attention for his injuries. Ayres succumbed to his injuries on December 26th, 2021.

Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigation (HBI), Region Three Office together with Sgt (Ag.) Ramdial continued investigations into Mr. Ayres death, which lead to subsequent arrest and charge of Khan. The investigation was spearheaded by Supt (Ag.) Sean Dhillpaul, supervised by Insp Anil Maharaj, Sgt Elvin and Sgt (Ag.) Deo of the (HBI), Region Three.
