A security officer is being praised on social media for delivering a baby in the carpark of the Couva Health Facility.
A 35 seconds video recorded by an onlooker was posted around 4 pm yesterday.
The woman arrived by car but did not make it into the facility as the baby was already on the way. Realising that the baby was close, the security officer slapped on her gloves and delivered the baby in the backseat of the car.
“The baby born here in the car. We done take out the baby,” one of the security officers said. The officer was also heard telling the mother to “breath in and out,” and that she was okay.
From the video, it appeared that both mother and baby were doing well.
When Guardian Media reached out to the South West Regional Health Authority’s corporate communications manager Kevon Gervais he declined to comment.
“We won’t be able to comment on or provide any other information until we are able to confirm details in the video,” he said.
