A Claxton Bay security guard survived after being shot during a robbery at a supermarket in La Brea on Wednesday. Police said that around 5.45 pm, two armed bandits walked into Welcome Supermarket along Majouba Road. One stood guard at the entrance while the other jumped over the cashier’s counter and emptied the cash register drawer in a bag. The 45-year-old guard, employed with Travtech Security Services Limited, was walking to the front of the supermarket, unaware of the robbery.
The bandit at the entrance saw him approached and shot him on the left side of the torso. Both bandits then gathered several cartons of cigarettes and bottles of rum before running off. La Brea police responded, but did not find the suspects up to yesterday.
