Police seized a security officer’s service shotgun after it accidentally fired while he was on duty at a supermarket in Gasparillo.

Officers said no one was injured and there was no damage to property.

According to the police, the 67-year-old officer employed with Promoter Security Services Ltd was on duty at Rue Sheng Supermarket at Parforce Road, Bonne Aventure, Gasparillo on Wednesday.

Police said around 3.30 pm a cord attached to the security officer’s identification badge got entangled with the trigger of his service shotgun, causing it to discharge in the direction of the ground. Officers from the Gasparillo Police Station responded and seized the security officer’s Escort 12 gauge shotgun which was loaded with six rounds of 12 gauge ammunition.
