A man, who was found dead on the compound of a church at Piarco on Wednesday morning, has been identified as Vijay Lutchman Manwah of no fixed place of abode.

It is believed that he was murdered as the body was found lying in blood and there were blood stains on the church’s walls and door.

Another homeless man, police said, who usually sleeps of the same church compound has not been seen since.

According to a police report, at about 9 am a party of police officers responded to a call and went to the compound of the Church of the Nazarene located at North Bank Road, Piarco where they found Manwah’s body.

Police said there was blood seen oozing from the head and upper torso of the body. A mattress was also discovered about 12 feet away from where the body was covered and it was also covered in blood.

Several areas on the ground, wall and church door had blood stains.

The District Medical Officer visited the scene, viewed the body of the body.

The scene was processed by Crime Scene Personnel of the Specialist Recovery Unit.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Manwah was last seen at St. Helena Junction at about 9 pm on Tuesday where he told people around that he was going to the church to sleep.

Manwah was last seen alive at the church at 11 pm.

Police are now searching for a homeless man as they believe he can help in their investigations.
