Khadijah Ameen

As a Deputy Political Leader of the United National Congress and newly elected Member of Parliament for St Augustine constituency I take this opportunity to congratulate Kamla Persad-Bissessar and the United National Congress on the General Election campaign of 2020.

It was a campaign based on the plans for T&T and not one based on personal attacks and mudslinging.

Even though the PNM won by a very slim majority of seats it’s interesting to note the number of votes received by UNC across the country, a clear indication that tens of thousands of individual citizens preferred the party led by Kamla Persad-Bissessar over any other political party in T&T.

The leadership of Mrs Persad-Bissessar has been people centred.

The party’s membership, following and support in previously non traditional areas is as a result of continuous representation, in and out of Government and genuine care for the needs and development of the citizens of every community.

As a newly elected UNC MP I wish to publicly express my support for Mrs Kamla Persad-Bissessar as Leader in the 12th Parliament of the Republic of T&T.

The UNC has received a significant number of votes in several constituencies in the General Elections 2020 and has increased the number of seats it now holds under its current leader.

Mrs Persad-Bissessar has managed to reorganize the party, attracting many new faces along with dynamic experienced individuals, some of whom will sit in Parliament.
