A 48-year-old La Brea man was shot while fighting with a gunman who robbed him of his gold chain on Tuesday.

According to a police report, around 7:55 pm on Tuesday June 1st, Shaune Richardson, a rigger, was accosted outside his home by two men, one of whom was armed with a gun.

The men reportedly robbed him of his $8,000 gold chain.

Richardson, however, scuffled with the gunman who shot him on his left upper arm near the elbow. The bullet pierced through his arm and struck the front door. Richardson did not back down and reportedly reached for his cutlass, which was at the side of the door, and tried to disarm the gunman. However, the assailants ran off and escaped through a track near the victim’s home.

La Brea police are investigating.
