A 35-year-old man was granted $15,000 bail by a Justice of the Peace after being charged with receiving stolen property.
He will appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate on February 23.
A release from the Police Service said Roland Whitlock, of Mango Alley, Trou Macaque, Laventille, was arrested and charged on February 5 by PC Thomas, of the Port-of-Spain City Police, following investigations into the account of an incident involving a Venezuelan woman.
She reported that while commuting in a taxi with her companion, the driver and another passenger reportedly attacked them and robbed her of her cell phone.
Investigations led to the phone being tracked to Faustin Huggins Trace, Morne Coco Road, Maraval, by the Port-of-Spain City Police and Task Force, where the officers saw a group of men standing at the location.
The men were subsequently searched during which the stolen phone was allegedly found on one of them.
The suspect was arrested and placed on an identification parade before being charged with the offence.
