A 25-year-old man from Laventille was arrested for possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking on Monday during an anti-crime exercise.

According to a police report, the exercise was conducted by members of the North Eastern Division Task Force between the hours of 1 pm and 6 pm in the Morvant district.

It was spearheaded by Snr Supt Maharaj, Ag/Supt Alexander and Ag/ASP Pariman, coordinated by Sgt Bharath and supervised by Ag/Cpl Majeed.

Police said officers upon receiving intelligence had cause to stop and search a gold Nissan Cefiro with the driver being the lone occupant, where four bricks of marijuana with a weight of 2.150 kilogrammes were found and seized on the flooring of the back seat.

The driver of LP#6 Eastern Quarry, Laventille was arrested and charged for the offence of possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
