A 21-year-old lorry man is expected to reappear in court on Wednesday 29th September 2021, on charges of sexual penetration of a minor.

Guardian Media understands that DARREN BABWAH of Dyer Village, Hardbargain, appeared virtually before Senior Magistrate Indira Misir-Gosine at the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday September 1st. He was granted $75,000 bail with a surety and ordered to stay 300 meters away from the victim.

The Police Service says Babwah, who is employed as a lorry man, was charged with sexual penetration of the 14-year-old girl. He was arrested after a report was made to the South-Western Child Protection Unit (CPU).

It is alleged that the man had sexual intercourse with the girl in a corn patch in September 2020. WPC Quashie-Gay of the South-Western CPU conducted an investigation which resulted in the man being arrested and charged on Tuesday 31st August 2021.
