A 63-year-old Carapichaima man is expected to appear at the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court today, to face charges of arson and malicious damage, with regard to an incident which occurred on Friday night.
The charges were laid against ANDRE SHALLOW on Saturday 27th March 2021, after a house he occupied in Carapichaima reportedly was set on fire, and a vehicle parked next to the structure also was partially burnt.
According to official police reports, officers responded to a report of a house fire at Lyons Drive, Orange Field Road, Carapichaima, around 11:15 pm on Friday 26th March 2021.
They discovered a wooden and galvanize structure engulfed in flames, and a vehicle parked on the southern side of the premises partially burnt.
Shallow, the sole occupant of the home, was cautioned and taken into custody, while fire officers of the Chaguanas Fire Station arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire.
There were no injuries, and total damages were estimated at $48,000.
Andre Shallow was charged with arson and malicious damage on Saturday, and will appear before a Chaguanas Magistrate, today (Monday 29 March 2021).
