Rhondor Dowlat-RostantA man, in a bid to escape police custody, reportedly jumped from off the third floor of an apartment building in Maloney yesterday. According to a police report, at about 5 am officers of the Northern Division acted on information of a report of a disturbance in Maloney Gardens where two men, one armed with a gun, were seen beating another man. A party of police officers from the Maloney CID, the Arouca CID and the Northern Division Task Force responded and held two men.

Police said they also seized a Glock 26 pistol with seven rounds of .40 mm ammunition. They said one of the two men, who they detained, attempted to make a dash for freedom and threw himself off of the building.

The officers were able to apprehend the man, who was wounded from the fall, and took him to the Arima District Hospital for treatment. He remained warded under police guard up to late yesterday.
