A man stole a police officer’s pouch from inside a marked police vehicle while the officers were out on inquires in Princes Town.

The incident took place on Saturday.

PCs Khadoo, Ali, Perreira and Rambajan left the Princes Town Police Station on inquires around 3.10 pm. When they got to Iere Village Branch Road, they came out of the Nissan X-Trail and left.

On their way back, the officers saw a man lean into the vehicle and take out the black Puma pouch.

The officer’s chased after the man, but he escaped.

The pouch belonged to PC Perreira.

It contained a police identification card and badge, a Samsung cellphone, a phone charger, a pocket diary, a flash drive and a bunch of keys.

Woman raped by weed-smoking friend

A woman has reported to police that she was raped by a man with whom she had been smoking marijuana at her home.

The 36-year-old San Fernando woman said around 10 pm on Friday she was at her home smoking marijuana with her friend.

She then went into the bedroom to put her child to sleep but she too fell asleep.

She told officers around 1 am she was jolted from sleep by the man having sex with her against her will.

The woman pushed him off and they began arguing.

The woman claimed the man pointed a gun at her and threatened to shoot her. He then left.

She made a report to the police and was taken to the health centre to be medically examined.

Investigations are continuing.
