Officers of the Maraval Police Station found and seized a firearm and ammunition during an anti-crime exercise conducted between Monday night and Tuesday morning.
During the exercise, the officers were on mobile patrol along Saddle Road, Maraval, in the vicinity of Beard Street, when they saw a man holding a black plastic bag.
When the man saw the officers, he threw the plastic bag in a pile of garbage and ran along Beard Street.
The officers gave chase, but the suspect escaped. After searching the garbage officers found one Black and Silver nine-millimetre pistol fitted with a magazine and five rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition and a canister containing 22 metal pellets.
