Marc Anthony Benois, 25, of Guava Road, Maraval, has been charged with the murder of Joshua Fortune.
He is the second suspect to be charged with the offence.
A police release said Benois was expected to appear virtually in the Port- of- Spain Magistrates’ Court.
It was reported that around 9.30 am on September 18, 2019, several loud explosions were heard.
Checks were made and the body of the victim was found lying in a pool of blood on a platform near his home on Balbadie Hill, Belle Vue, Long Circular, St. James.
Homicide Region One detectives continued investigations which resulted in the first suspect, Shurland Brown, aka ‘Big Mesh’, 23, of Long Circular Road, St James, being charged on October 27, 2020.
Benois was charged by WPC Frederick on Tuesday . A third suspect is still at large.
No bail for ‘Super Muslim’
Akili Aquil, also known as ‘Super Muslim’ of Waterhole, Cocorite, appeared virtually before acting Deputy Chief Magistrate Cherril-Anne Antoine in the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The accused was not called upon to plea, bail was not granted and the
accused was advised to apply for bail before a Judge in Chambers, as this was his second firearm offence.
Around 10 pm on January 10, 2021 Cpl Khan, PC Clement, and WPC Noreiga, stopped the accused at Waterhole, Cocorite, where they allegedly found in his rear waistband, one Taurus pistol fitted with a magazine and nine rounds of nine millimetre ammunition.
The firearm and ammunition were seized and the suspect was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition on Tuesday.
The exercise was coordinated by Ag Snr Supt Kelvern Thompson, and
coordinated by Supt Smith, Supt Henry and ASP Baird.
The matter was postponed to Tuesday 9th February, 2021.
