Marijuana allegedly seized from a woman by police in Morvant.

A 54-year-old Morvant woman was arrested and a quantity of marijuana packed in several bags was allegedly seized during an Operation Strike Back 3 exercise conducted in Morvant on Thursday.

According to the police, around 9.15 am on Thursday, PC Balbosa executed a search warrant for illegal firearms and ammunition at an apartment at Almond Court, Morvant.

During the search of a bedroom, one black brief bag containing a quantity of plastic-wrapped packets, one white plastic bag containing several wrapped plastic packets, as well as a transparent plastic bag containing 22 small plastic packets and one grey flowered book bag containing several wrapped plastic packets were found.

When examined, the bags contained marijuana, which when weighed amounted to 16.66 kilogrammes.

Cpl Durant and a party of officers from the Crime Scene Investigation Unit processed the scene.

Police took possession of the marijuana, and PC Balbosa arrested a 54-year-old woman for allegedly being in possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

The woman was taken to the Morvant Police Station.

This exercise was coordinated by Snr Supt Oswain Subero and included Cpl Marajh and a party of officers from the IATF.

Investigations are continuing.
