An early-morning police exercise conducted in Morvant on Tuesday led to the arrest of eight people wanted for several offences, including a 2020 murder.

According to a police report, at about 4 am members of the North Eastern Division Task Force, CID, gang unit and canine branch went to several areas in Morvant where they executed warrants.

In total, eight people were arrested including a suspect in a murder that occurred last year in Morvant.

Police said five people were held for shooting offences and a woman for theft.

Police said the exercise targeted suspected members of a newly-formed gang in Morvant.

The exercise was led by Snr Supt Maharaj, Supt Alexander and ASP Parriman and included Insp Bharath, Sgts Ramsingh and Quashie, Cpls Majeed and Balram and PCs Mieres, Dass, Simon and Nanan.
