There will be no Independence Day parade this year. In a press release issued this afternoon the Minister of National Security stated that “after careful consideration, it was determined that the safest option would be to forego hosting any parade this year” The following is a press release from the Ministry of National Security:

Minister of National Security the Honourable Fitzgerald Hinds M.P. wishes to advise that having regard to the current situation with respect to COVID-19, there will be no Independence Day Parade this year.

After careful consideration, it was determined that the safest option would be to forego hosting any parade this year.

Persons are reminded to abide by THE PUBLIC HEALTH [2019 NOVEL CORONAVIRUS (2019-nCoV)] REGULATIONS currently in place and to stay safe.

The Ministry of National Security takes the opportunity to wish all citizens of Trinidad and Tobago a Happy 59th Independence.
