A pensioner has been left homeless after a fire gutted her home in Mayaro on Tuesday.
Guardian Media understands that 78-year-old Annette Lewis, of 3 1/2 mm Guayaguayare Road, Grand Lagoon, Mayaro, left her home around 10 am on Tuesday June 1st. Hours later, at about 3:20 pm, she received a call from a relative stating that her home was on fire.
When the police arrived at Lewis’ address, fire officers of the Mayaro Fire Station were in the process of extinguishing the flames.
The house is said to be insured.
While on the scene, police officers interviewed several persons concerning the fire, however, PC Gomes of the Mayaro Police Station continuing enquiries.
